Michelle Walton
Michelle Walton made the move to the country in Manakau, Horowhenua 6 years ago and has been working full time developing her art practise and methodology of working.
"My approach is very much to have free play and experiment with the physical properties of Black Building Paper, which I started using back at Ilam Art School as a student and picked up again in the last few years.
I started painting the paper initially as I was worried about it becoming yellow over time, however the painting and colour of the work has become an intrinsic part of my work and I have been influenced by the way Per Kirkeby and Milton Resnick paint. I’m a great admirer of Don Peebles, Vincent Hawkins and Phillida Barlow."
