Stephanie Postles
Stephanie Postles works with rich oil pigment on wood panel.
Her work is a contradictory mix of realism and romanticism, as her subjects are often captured in honest and truthful moments but surrounded by rich, colourful and romanticized textures.
Through her painting’s she explores themes of memory and ideas around storing and keeping memories. Her paintings also delve into the personal spaces of which we curate and call home. Earnestly interested in capturing and recording simplified and quotidian moments within the context of daily life.
Postles is influenced by painters such as Edvard Munch and Pierre Bonnard and also draws inspiration from literature, photography, film and an intense compulsion to record memories.
Currently she is working in remote parts of the south island in the conservation sector and lives a life on the move taking her paintings with her.
