Lena Ochkalova
Originally Lena Ochkalova is from Russia, St.Petersburg, where she studied art in private studios. Lena works with different mediums and techniques including acrylic and oil paintings, monoprinting and drawings, 3D visualisation, photography and recently delved into the medium of ceramics.
With a strong intensive background in architecture and graphic design, Lena's works present a structural aethetics of organised expression. The philosophy of Lena’s works can be described as “Illusion of New Physics” with the main influences coming as a mixture from modern Japanese artists (Ryoji Ikeda, Maiko Takeda, Kazuo Shiraga etc.), new wave of abstract artists from Europe (Paul Kneale, Adrian Ghenie) and such well established names of contemporary Western art traditions as Cy Twombly, Pat Steir and Julian Schnabel.
